The Importance of Hydration

At some point in life, we have all heard the phrase “you need 8 glasses of water a day.” However, do you really understand why that is? Some people will forgo drinking water on a daily basis because they do not understand just how important it is for bodily function and living. Some even go as far to say they do not like the “taste” of water. Let’s explore why hydration is necessary and important in our lives, and how we can easily incorporate it in our days.

The human body is made of 75% water. All organs, tissues, and cells depend on us drinking our daily intake of water to function properly. You need water to survive, and we have to hold ourselves accountable every day for drinking the necessary amount. Let’s look at what happens when you do not drink enough water, the physical state known as dehydration.

Dehydration is when the body has more water/fluids leaving than entering it.
Symptoms of dehydration can include lethargy, headaches, constipation, and dry mouth. When severe, dehydration can cause your blood pressure to lower, delirium, fever, and shriveled skin. If not treated, dehydration can be fatal and can require immediate medical attention.

Now you know why staying hydrated is important. An easier way to make sure you are getting the minimum suggested daily intake of water is using one of our Hydrate Me Water Bottle Weights. It can hold 2.2 liters of water, which is slightly more than the daily minimum and it doubles as a 5 pound weight once filled. Hold yourself accountable to drink the water you need to function at an optimal level. Make it easy on yourself and get our water bottle so you can use it daily and know you are getting everything you need daily to stay hydrated. If you don’t like the “taste” of water, try adding fruits to make your water flavorful, such as pictured below:
