Feeling Stressed? Try These 5 Yoga Poses for Instant Stress Relief

We all know that yoga is great for stress relief but there are specific poses that are particularly perfect to relief stress and anxiety. Whenever you’re having a particularly difficult and stressful day try doing them and feel instant relief.

One Leg Down Dog

One legged down dog is the perfect arm strengthening and balance exercise, but it’s also perfect for stress relief. To do this pose evenly distribute your weight in both palms of your hands and drop your shoulders. Make sure that your upper body is squared so that you’re in the downward facing dog position. Gently lift one of your legs up and hold this pose for 4 breaths. Then gently lower your leg and repeat this pose with the opposite leg.

Child's Pose

There's a reason child's pose is also called a resting pose. It's the one pose we come back to in our yoga practice to reset and regain our strength. To do this pose kneel on the floor and let your big toes touch each other. Exhale and lay your torso between your legs. Stretch your arms in front of you and breathe.

 Seated Twist

Sit on the floor in a cross-legged position. Inhale and straighten your spine, with your exhale hold onto your right knee with your left hand and twist your upper body to the right side. Inhale again and come to center. Repeat on the opposite side.

Forward Fold

Stand straight with your feet hip distance apart. Inhale and raise your arms above your head, then with your exhale fold forward letting your arms and head hang low to your feet. Hold this for a couple of breaths, then stand up straight again.

Savasana (Corpse Pose)

Oh Savasana, how we love you. There’s really not too much about Savasana, or corpse pose. All you got to do is roll out your yoga mat and lay on it on your back, close your eyes and breath. You can also take this time to meditate, pray, or calm your mind. Just make sure to not fall asleep.
